May- LT took a group of 4 children to show them how to use the camera properly and take photos then put them onto the computer.
May 25 LT took 2 more groups of 4 to show them how to use the camera and load the photos onto the computer . The class teacher wants to use some of these skills with their project on the gore community.
June 4 After LT teaching a group of children how to use the camera a child took over the responsibility of taking photos on the class trip to see the Gore landmarks. The children in the class regard this as a very responsible role. The photographer did a fantastic job. I have noticed that the teacher is now in the photos too.
June 11 LT took a small group at a time and taught whole class how to use kidspiration so it can be used as an independent reading activity. All children seemed confident and keen. Lowest group would need expert help from older ones.
Teacher plans to trial it before end of term to keep it refreshed in their minds.
The children really like kidspiration and it is only limited by the pictures available and their imagination. The buddy coaching system works well with one person as the teacher and the other the doer. The children used their familiar reading texts to make a story map and printed them out.
The children continue to use the power point storybook to write and I notice that some are becoming much faster at typing. One child is not able to recognise the capital letters so I have found Jill Hammonds key board and games and will start using this in class next week.
The children have successfully used the easy speak themselves. Many just need more practise to develop their confidence. I think this is a good tool to develop the Ways of Growing focus of we can think and talk about our learning. My next step is to download the power point on to the the class wiki.
The next step for the children is to keep on using the above and also learn how to use the ctrl, alt, del keys so they do not have to have the teacher do this for them as they are much more confident at starting up and shutting down the computers.
Aug week 7 LT showed whole class how to track changes in word- ch are going to try writing on word each lesson- using class computers in writing time.
This picture shows a writing lesson where pencil and laptop work side by side. The children were engaged in powerpoint books, writing books and track changes on word. The children have a chance to do each of these on different days. The T knows who has used what by checking off on a class list. The class was very engaged and the children on the computers were proud of their work.
Sept 2010 The children have all used kidspiration to record their ideas around the topic "coal." The chlidren all used kidspiration to develop their ideas after visiting Harold about the main body organs and the function of these body parts.
The class have used the word programme and written their story directly on to the computer and then the review tool bar to edit their work. this is a fairly sophisticated way to edit.
Using ICT gives the children another way to record in different forms. Most of the class are hooked in but some just prefer to watch so these are the ones that need extra tutoring to make sure they know how to use the different programmes.
Sue has taught the class how to play Bingo on a laminated key board so this will be another activity to use any time of the day with a buddy or small group to develop knowledge of the key board and develop greater knowledge of where the letters are placed on the key board.
